Gingerbread Houses

Last weekend we had the opportunity to make gingerbread houses with some of Emily's family. Leslie, Emily's sister, hosted the shindig at her home and prepared the gingerbread. We all made our houses quite different from any in the past. Our house did not survive the move, but it was fun to create and we got pictures before it collapsed on itself. It is becoming a Christmas tradition that we all enjoy!

Santa

Although Wyatt does quite well with strangers typically, the fat man in the red suit was not his friend. It is always good to visit Santa though. Plus he has a real beard, so that is a good thing. We saw Mr. Clause at R.C. Willey after eating some free hot dogs and soda. Our neighbors went at the same time we did, which made it more bearable to wait in the half hour line.

Thanksgiving 2014

This year our family spent Thanksgiving with The Wrights. We had our feast and played games at Jayne's house, Emily's cousin. She did a great job hosting! Emily ended up doing some Black Friday shopping with her parents.
Another Thanksgiving tradition is dipping chocolate with The Spackmans. It was fun to have most of the family together.
Travis and Wyatt have loved the rewards thus far.

Sprained Ankle

Travis twisted his ankle pretty good at work while playing football with the students. This is a direct result of still trying to be a teenager when Travis is well past his athletic prime. His mind thought one thing and his body didn't quite respond. There was an X-ray taken at the hospital and nothing was broken or torn, however it will be a number of weeks till he is back in athletic form.

Darth Maul

Travis has wanted to dress up as Darth Maul for Halloween. Kyle recently found a well designed costume online and showed it to Travis. As soon as Travis saw it he was sold. It was bought and Emily made a few alterations. Travis covered devil horns with clay and had Kerri paint them to look like bone. The makeup concerned Travis the most, but a student who was part of the school's haunted house ended up doing a decent job. The part that concerned Emily was Travis needing to have a bald head. He received her approval to do it once and only once!

Trick or Treat

Gina's work had a fun Halloween Party for employee families and Wyatt got to join her this year for the party. There was a haunted forest, photo both, treats, and trick or treating. We all had a fun time and Wyatt got more candy than expected. Everyone loved Wyatt's costume.

Wyatt Loves Popcorn and Buckets

Paul ad Kerri went to the theaters and brought some left over popcorn home. Wyatt was enjoying it so much they let him take the rest home. Once home Wyatt found the popcorn bucket unattended and this is what happened.

Wyatt did end up eating most of the popcorn off the floor and loved playing peek a boo with the bucket. Thanks Paul and Kerri for giving Wyatt the time of his life!

Halloween Decor

Greatest time of the Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sprinklers

The sprinklers at our house are finally done. We finished them in time to get hydro seed down and two weeks of watering before the city turned off the secondary water. It seems like it was forever doing the sprinkler system, but it was actually not that long--less than three weeks. Although it was a good experience, it is doubtful Travis will be quitting his day job to start up a sprinkler business. However, the skill was useful and we can fix the thing if need be in the future. Plus we saved a lot of money, about four grand in labor alone. With that saved money we were able to buy the living room set. Thanks to all who helped in working on the sprinklers.

Wyatt's First Zoo Trip

We finally made it to the zoo! Travis' older sister came up with her kids and we all decided to go to the zoo together. Wyatt loved the animals (the children and adults included). He also really liked playing in the water at the splash pad. This trip was fun because we got to see the bird show and elephant show. Wyatt got a stuffed animal polar bear as a souvenir for his first time.

Sep 13 Womens National Soccer

Last weekend we got the opportunity to see a USA national team! We went with some friends to the game and sat three rows up. They were awesome seats just off to the side of the goalie. We were all impressed with the players abilities and skill level. The USA won 8-0 against Mexico. Fun times!

Comic Con

Emily and I went to Comic Con this weekend. Wyatt came with us too. It was pretty fun, but probably not something we’ll go to every time it is in town. Emily’s mom was able to get us in for free, so it was definitely worth the price. I think normally it costs $40 to get in.
Emily and I both agreed that the coolest things there were the cars. We saw the Delorian from Back to the Future and three different Batmobiles. I included pictures of them all. There were some other cars there too, but those ones were our favorites. We also saw a few famous people like Grant from Mythbusters, Napoleon Dynamite and Pedro, Lou Ferrigno (the original Hulk), Giancarlo Esposito, and a lot of other famous people, most of whom we didn’t really know.
There are lots of weirdos at Comic Con too. It was about as fun to crowd watch as anything else. Unfortunately, the modesty in many of the people who dressed up was not really there. There were a couple fun characters like the dad and daughter from Brave, Thor, and Iron Man. Interestingly enough Wyatt was quite scared of Thor, but found Iron Man very interesting. Who would have thunk?

Apples

Today Wyatt woke up from a nap and was in a terrible mood. The only thing he wanted was an apple that was sitting on the counter. Emily gave it to him just to see what he would do. Wyatt was able to bite the apple. He carried it around with him for a few hours and was the happiest boy ever. He even ended up eating over half the apple.

The yard work begins!

Last week we had two truck loads of soil brought in. We were going to need triple the amount of loads until a neighbor was kind enough to bring their extra soil to our yard. Wyatt has always loved to play outside. He was in heaven when he got a chance to play with the piles of soil. Last weekend our old bishop spread the soil and leveled out the yard for us. It looks great so far. All we need now is grass :) Travis also finished the wall for a raised garden in the front yard.

Snowbird Summer Day Pass

Travis and I had a fun time returning to Snowbird. We went to snowbird on our honeymoon and have not been back since. The day pass has changed a little over the past 5 Years.

This time we were able to ride the Mountain Coaster, the Alpine Slide, the Mountain Flyer and Tram. The pass also included a Ropes Course, Climbing Wall, and Bungee Trampoline.

Big shout out to Paul and Kerri for letting us use part of their week at the time share and for taking care of Wyatt while we had a mini vacation.

1st Birthday Cake

We had 2 cakes; a treasure chest for the crew and a skull for Wyatt. Wyatt did not like his cake very much. He played with the frosting for awhile and dug his fingers in, but had no interest in eating anything.

Gifts and Games

Wyatt loved all the gift he received. He is one spoiled boy!
The games were fun. The best was the treasure hunt. Clues were hidden around the house and a real buried treasure was found in the backyard. One treasure was found with the first ground breaking, the second was a little harder to find since both were not marked. We also had Pirates Dice and Pin the Treasure on the X.

Wyatt's 1st Birthday

Birthday Invitation
Wyatt had his 1st birthday party! It was pirate themed and we all had a lot of fun.

As the crew came on deck they dressed up in their gear and had pictures taken.

Above is the gear the crew could choose from. To the right is the photo backdrop that we made.

The rest of the decorations were fun to make and put together. One of our favorites is the treasure map Travis made.

For dinner, we had Cannon Balls (meatballs), Dead Man's Fingers (Little Smokies), Peg Legs (Corn Dogs), Catch of the Day (Goldfish), Poly's Crackers (Cheese & Crackers), Pirate Jewels (fruit), and Root Beer.

Travis did an awesome job making the watermelon into a ship.

Wyatt

Ogden Temple

Today we walked through the Ogden Temple. It is amazing to see the work and perfection of each temple. What blessings Heavenly Father has given us! I am grateful I am sealed to my Trav and family!

Camping

We took Wyatt on his first camping trip. He loved finding rocks and pinecones. Wyatt also enjoyed the little critters. His favorite thing to do was walk around with sticks and use them like a walking stick. It did rain a lot which is not ideal for camping, but Travis did make a delicious dutch oven dinner.

Wyatt Walking

Wyatt is getting the hang of it!

Living Room Furniture

It all started with a coffee table. Our little black coffee table was at the end of its road. It was pretty beat up and very wobbly. It was not the safest thing around for Wyatt either; whenever he touched the table it would lean. Below is the culprit.

We decided to replace the coffee table and looked everywhere. There were a few tables online that we liked and one at RC Willey, but all were expensive. On July 24th, we decided to go to RC Willey to look for deals. We found that it was a better deal to buy a complete living room set than just a coffee table. Plus our couches were not the most comfy things to seat on. We ended up getting a couch, loveseat, 2 end tables, two lamps, and a coffee table. Below are before and after pictures of our living room.
