1 Week

Mindee was gracious enough to take pictures of our sweet baby boy. She did an amazing job! He is such a cutie and we have made many adjustments now that he is with us. The first week was harder than we expected. We are all learning together and still have a lot to learn. It is encouraging to look back to the first night home and see the progress we have made.

Closed

We closed on our house the end of July and started moving in. Once Travis had his pin removed from his pinky, we gathered family members and got most of our furniture into the house. Emily was not much help because she was almost 9 months pregnant so we were grateful for the help. The house is coming together and we cant wait to officially move in!

Wyatt John Spackman

On Friday, the 9th of August, 2013 a third member of our family joined us. Wyatt was born at 3:54 in the morning weighing in at 7 pounds 11 ounces. All went well with labor and delivery and the new baby was pronounced as healthy as could be, even getting a perfect 10 on the Apgar Test. Here is a rundown of the events prior to Wyatt being born.




 

6:49 p.m. on Thursday the 8th. Emily's water broke, about 10 minutes after leaving work.
8:00 p.m. We arrived at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden and check in. Emily is starting to feel some good labor pains and is dilated to a 4.
9:00 p.m. An epidural is given and everyone is happier.
10:00 p.m. Emily is dilated to a 7.
10:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m. We leisurely enjoy Shark Week on Discovery Channel, very different than what we expected our hospital time to be like.
2:00 a.m. Emily is dilated to a 10 and the doctor is paged.
3:15 a.m. Emily practice pushes with the nurse while waiting for the doctor and is told to stop so the baby doesn't come too early.
3:45 a.m. The doctor arrives.
3:54 a.m. Wyatt John Spackman joins our family.

It has been a fun, life-changing event. Strange to think what life was like before he arrived. Wyatt has been a pretty good baby, struggling little with nursing and when to sleep, but overall doing really well.

Baby Update

 




Emily went to the doctors on Monday and he informed us that she had made no progress from the week before... beside gaining weight :( Emily was disappointed so she has done lots of walking and Travis even let her put the playyard/bassinet up.








Emily is 38 weeks tomorrow and still hopes our little guy will come before 40 weeks. The baby weighs somewhere between 6-61/2 lbs and has his head down low. Emily is dilated just above a 1 and has thinned 60-70%.

Finger Pin

Travis now has a pin in his pinky finger that is about an inch and a half long. It goes down to his second knuckle. It has to stay there for a month to make sure his bones heal correctly. After a month they pull the pin out and hopefully he'll be able to regain most of the motion in the finger. For now all is going well, just the brace gets annoying to wear.

4th of July

House Progress through June 30

Our house looks like it is finished. The only thing we see missing is the carpet and RC Willey is delivering our appliances on Monday. It was fun walking through the house and seeing all the minor changes that are happening. The changes we noticed inside the house was of course the granite counter tops, sinks,  sink fixtures, light fixtures, outlet covers, toilets, and master shower glass. Outside the house the front stairs are dry with railing and the driveway is complete with RV pad to the side of the garage. We are getting excited to move in and get things settled.
