Spring Break

Last week was our Spring Break. As students we always looked forward to Spring Break, but we never realized that it is something that teachers look forward to as well. Interesting how your perspective can change. It may be that teachers enjoy the break more than the students do.

Travis kept busy during spring break. He helped a fellow teacher sheetrock his basement and a neighbor to sod his lawn. He also played soccer with his brothers and started exercising to get ready for the upcoming season. During the weekend Travis, Brain, Quinn, and Derek went to the European stores in Salt Lake. They found some cool things and remembered fun memories from their missions. After returning from the stores they played a few games (Travis won - of course).

We spent a few days in West Valley with Emily's family during the break. We went to a Grizzlies' Hockey Game and hung out with family. Emily got some more maternity clothes, including a very cute dress. Larger clothing is becoming necessary due to her belly starting to show more and more.

For the end of Spring Break, we went back to the Wright's house. We celebrated Leslie's birthday. She is now 21 years old, we think. Sometimes we don't even remember how old we are. It doesn't really matter anymore. Emily's dad got us tickets to see conference in the conference center. We went for the final session Sunday afternoon. It was Derrell's (Leslie's husband) first time. As always it was a great experience. Elder Kopischke spoke, who has a son at Mountain High in two of Travis' math classes.

It was a very eventful Spring Break. Not much of a break, but still very enjoyable.

Temple Cleaning

Our ward was assigned to help clean the temple last week. We decided it would be fun to volunteer. Typically you see the same parts of the temple, but cleaning allowed us to see other areas that are less often visited.

Both of us vacuumed for the two hours we were cleaning. We went in at almost 10 at night, as the temple was closing. We vacuumed the laundry room downstairs, some hallways, and then the boy's dressing room. Yep, Emily went in the guy's changing room. However, Travis was the only guy in there, so it wasn't too exciting. Plus it is exactly like the girl's dressing room, just mirrored.

The temple is really clean. In fact, while we were vacuuming we often wondered if we were even doing anything. It was cool to be able to serve in the temple and see different parts of it. They even took us to the fourth floor which is where all the machinery, spare fabric, and other odds and ends are stored. A fun date night of sorts.

Easter

This year we spent Easter with Emily's family. It was the start of our Spring Break, so we decided it would be a great weekend to spend with her family. Saturday Grandma Wright got the family tickets to a Grizzlie's hockey game. It was a really fun game! The Grizzles had a winning streak to maintain and the players were very aggressive. The game went into overtime and even had a shoot-out. The Grizzles won!

Sunday we went to Emily's parents' ward and got to see a few people we are friends with. We stayed busy the rest of the day with other Easter activities. At her parents' we got baskets full of candy and held an egg hunt, where we got even more candy and treats. For dinner we went to Grandma Wright's house for a family party. She made all kinds of goodies and lots of the family came. Grandma also had an egg hunt, where each egg is worth 10 cents. Travis got 54 eggs and Emily got 51. Emily was pretty excited she got almost as many eggs as Travis with her growing belly.
